Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 4, 2026
Road Rec is built around vehicles, not people. Profiles do not display owner names, home addresses, license plates, VINs, or registration data. This policy explains what we do collect, why, and the choices you have. Road Rec is operated by McGee Strategy, LLC.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider). We record that you confirmed you are 18 or older. If you sign in with Google, Google shares the basic profile information needed to create your account.
Vehicle profile content
The vehicle details you publish — nickname, year, make, model, trim, type, build status, color, story, tags, builder credit, external link, a custom profile name, and a hero image — are content you choose to make public. You control whether a profile is published.
Visit and ranking data
To power rankings, we record qualified visits to public profile pages. We do not store your raw IP address. We store only a one-way hash of your IP address combined with a secret value, so the original address cannot be recovered. We also store a truncated summary of your browser type, the source of the visit, and how long the page was in view. This is used to count qualified visits and filter automated traffic; it is not linked to your identity.
Decal and shipping information
If you order a decal, we collect the name and shipping address needed to fulfill the order. This information is visible only to you and Road Rec administrators and is used to deliver and track your order. Decal activation codes are linked to the vehicle profile you activate them for.
Reports
When someone reports a profile, we record the category, the details they write, and — only if they choose to provide it — a contact email so we can follow up. Reports are visible only to Road Rec administrators.
How we use information
- To create and manage your account and sign you in;
- To display the vehicle profiles and decals you publish;
- To count qualified visits and calculate rankings;
- To fulfill, activate, and track decal orders;
- To review and act on reports of impersonation, privacy, or unsafe content;
- To maintain the security and integrity of Road Rec.
What stays off public pages
Road Rec never publishes owner contact details, locations, VINs, plates, or registration data. Rankings show only the vehicle, its public profile details, and a recognition count — not who visited or where they came from beyond an anonymous source label.
Cookies and authentication
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect your session. These cookies are necessary for the service to function and are not used for cross-site advertising or tracking. We do not sell information to third parties.
Service providers
We rely on trusted providers to operate Road Rec, including a database/authentication provider and, where you choose it, Google for sign-in. These providers process information on our behalf to deliver the service and are bound by their own privacy commitments.
Data retention
We keep account and profile information for as long as your account is active. Public profile content remains visible until you unpublish or delete it. Visit and ranking data is retained to maintain historical rankings. Decal order and shipping information is retained for as long as needed to fulfill and account for orders, and to handle any follow-up. You can request deletion of your account and its content; some derived data such as rankings may persist.
Your choices
- You can unpublish or delete a vehicle profile at any time.
- You can edit or remove the details on your profiles.
- You can manage your account and sign out from your settings.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
U.S. state privacy rights
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with a privacy law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain processing. Because Road Rec does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, opt-out rights largely do not apply; you may still exercise access and deletion rights by contacting us.
Children
Road Rec is not directed at children and is available only to users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will remove the account.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, including hashed credentials, scoped access controls, and server-side rules that limit what each user can read or change. No method is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will note the “Last updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will provide notice on Road Rec.
